Ziya Boyacigiller Memorial Fund

The Ziya G. Boyacigiller Memorial Fund was recently established to celebrate his life, fulfill his long lasting dream of giving and continue his legacy. To everyone, who knew Ziya Boyacigiller, he was known as an effective leader because of his tremendous ability to inspire people, his unique strategic insight and his calm personality.

Ziya began his career as a design engineer at Intersil, and later co-founded "EZCAD" just a few years out of graduate school. He became a member of Maxim Integrated Products and then moved onto managerial side of the operations at Maxim. To this day, some of the managerial innovations Ziya brought to the company are still practiced. His strong belief in teamwork, his creativity and his integrity continues to inspire many.

After taking early "retirement" from Maxim, Ziya started working on projects he enjoyed, teaching, angel investing, and most important mentoring young entrepreneurs (he called himself a mentor investor, and indeed that is what he is most remembered for).

Having achieved career success, and believing in the importance of giving back, especially to his motherland, Ziya turned to philanthropy. He became one of the founding partners of TPF and served on the Board of Directors for three years, giving insightful ideas and leading TPF's second Five-Year Strategic Plan. Later, he joined the Council of Trustees.

TPF lost its dear friend and a great leader on June 19, 2014. He had the most fulfilling life with passion, generosity and deep desire to make a difference. His generosity and altruism have left a lasting effect on TPF and his legacy lives on through a memorial fund his wife, Dr. Nakiye Boyacigiller, launched with TPF. The Ziya G. Boyacigiller Memorial Fund has been established to support the three causes that Ziya felt was most passionate about: entrepreneurship, education, and empowering young women. We will seek to choose programs that truly make a difference; as for Ziya effectiveness was key.

The Ziya G. Boyacigiller Memorial Fund is making its first donation to the Entrepreneurship Foundation (Girisicimciler Vakfi) to support youth participating in the Entrepreneurship Foundation's Fellowship Program. Nakiye chose this program, because of its thoughtful design, that it is open to students from all universities, and due to its effectiveness. With this initial donation, the foundation will name one of their fellows, the Ziya G. Boyacigiller Entrepreneurship Foundation Fellow.

Open to students from all universities, the Entrepreneurship Foundation's Fellowship Program is unique in that it provides youth between the ages of 17-24 the chance to create and advance the entrepreneurship culture in Turkey. The Fellowship Program encourages youth to share the success that they gain with the community and aims to create the perspective of "give back" on young people. Just as Ziya Boyacigiller did! In years to come, with input from friends in the entrepreneurship and NGO communities in Turkey, Nakiye, and her daughters, Belkis and Esen, will look to support other organizations as well. Our three areas of interest will be education, entrepreneurship and the empowerment of young women.

If you would like to support this effort, donations (tax deductible in the US) will be gratefully accepted.

Thank you!
